I feel like I just got it, at least a little with the aid of my Hackmotion. The thing that really clicked was trying the motorcycle drill with the the swing thought of turning the thumbs down towards the ball. My wrist at the top of the backswing is flat (thumbs up) and I immediately go towards (thumbs down) at the ball. Rob Cheney does the coaching drills in the Hackmotion. To add to this, the reason you have to do a lot with your arms / wrists at the last second is because your clubface opens during your downswing (it actually looks perfectly square at the top of the swing, so you're opening it up on the way down somewhere).
