You get to a laid off position, with a shaft that is steepening in transition. To make contact from P6 to P7 you clearly stand up and come out of your posture a bit. Watch in slow mo, you will see your head come up a few inches at contact. That’s tough to have consistency with. I would try some YouTube videos on how to remove a laid off position like this: ▶ this video
