yes and yes. I personally like to lower my hands slightly at address too, when I need a low one swing more around my body. Rory has a great video on hitting a low one. He does everything the same, except right at impact 'pulls up' his body. It works, I've tried it. Consistently doing it, not so easy. Here: ▶ this video 7:50 in

Interesting he said that about 3W, when you absolutely don't want to hit up on the ball with your woods. Driver is really the only club you should be hitting up with, and there are a fuck ton of how-to's on youtube. Here is the king of hitting up on the ball ▶ this video
