I've been kind of experiencing something similar. I starting doing ▶ this video. The tape drill has been very good to me, though when I start hitting with a ball I put a small piece of tape in front of the ball to aim at.

Some ranges offer discounts for students as long as you show school ID. Some also give range privileges if you work for them! Find which courses around you have decent chipping greens and putting greens, preferably one where there's room to pitch from 30+ yards. This video by phil mickelson is gold and I swear by it. \- ▶ this video \- ▶ this video Don't need to buy balls, just need a mat and some masking tape- ▶ …

Net is great for practicing feels and ball striking, but you need to pair that with range sessions (or a simulator) to make sure ball flights & dispersion are good. You can get a good sense of start line too, especially if there's some distance between you and the net: ▶ this video

Show me this swing with a 5 iron off the turf, that mat is going to give you false confidence. But some scotch tape down on that mat and you’ll see. It's a great looking swing but the mats hide a ton of issues Watch this video from Bryson: ▶ this video

Shanks are difficult to diagnose. It's not always just one thing that causes it. A solution that worked for one person might not work for another. You can try a drill though that won't hurt regardless of what's causing your shanks. ▶ this video
